Savina Diankova Named PTR New York Member of the Year

March 5, 2012 04:33 PM
Savina Diankova of USTA Eastern’s Southern Region (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) was named the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Member of the Year for New York State last week. The award is presented to a PTR member in the United States who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.

PTR presented its annual awards last week during the 2012 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes 50-plus on court and classroom presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, a tennis trade show and tournament, was held February 24-28, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, in Orlando, Florida.

Diankova has been involved with tennis for 36 years, and has had success throughout her whole career because of her love for the game. One of her biggest achievements is guiding both of her children to achieving ATP and WTA rankings. But more importantly, she has not been afraid to start over. After successfully coaching in Bulgaria and Turkey, Diankova moved to the US with nothing in her pocket, but with the determination that this is where she wanted to work.

Fifteen years ago, Diankova embraced the ideas of PTR and became an ambassador of the organization not only in the US, but also in Bulgaria and Turkey. Her skills and deep understanding for the game gained her the title of PTR Tester for Adult Development certification candidates. In addition, Diankova hosted the largest ever PTR Junior Development Certification Workshop.
